A worker at Qualcomm Stadium fell about 30 feet out of the press box was taken to a hospital. The time was about three hours before the Denver Broncos played the San Diego Chargers on Monday night.
The man was later identified as Walt Daniels, a member of the Chargers’ game-day staff. According to a television photographer, he heard a pop and then saw a man not wearing any team's NFL jersey falling from the press level near a radio announcing booth. Daniels appeared to sustain a head injury, and police and emergency personnel tended to him. He was administered CPR before being taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital on a backboard.
The accident happened just during the time when it was supposed to be the opening of game between the Broncos and the Chargers, in the booth that was to be used by Broncos assistant coaches. The opening of the stadium’s gates had to be delayed by about 40 minutes.
