Veteran QB McNabb may get contract extension from new team

While he was traded away by his former team Philadelphia Eagles, veteran quarterback Donovan McNabb received much better treatment from his new team Washington Redskins. At age 34, he is now facing a big chance to receive contract extension from the Redskins. Now he may have changed him mind from putting on a Vikings jersey after the 2010 season to retire as a Redskin.

"We really haven’t started (talks)," Redskins GM Bruce Allen told Comcast SportsNet. "Donovan is so excited about this new opportunity—the team has embraced him, our fans clearly have embraced him. We’ll have plenty of time to get something done with him. We see him as part of our future. We would not have made the trade unless we see it that way, and he knows it.”

Unlike the high-profile 41-year-old quarterback wearing No.4 Brett Favre jersey, McNabb may not be able to play as well as he used to play when he was younger. What’s good with McNabb was that he has been calm with the changes and knows well that his value dropped as he grew old. If a contract extension is offered by the Redskins, he will just do his best to help the team, just to show his gratitude for being treated still as a key role.

Panthers WR Steve Smith will be ready for season opener

The Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith is still taking care of his injured arm, but it seemed that the recovering progress has been going on pretty well and it was reported that the receiver would be fine by the time of the final preseason game. So we may expect the young receiver to appear for the team’s season opener in early September.

Smith broke his arm last month in a flag football game and needed surgery. The injury typically requires two months of recovery time. It’s been one month and the regular season is less than two months away, so Smith could still have time to work out in preparation for playing in regular-season games. It is highly expected now that he would meet with another receiver named Steve Smith of the New York Giants on Sept. 12 for the season opener between the two teams.

Recently seen in a Brett Favre jersey, the Giants Steve Smith joked to reporters that he hoped nothing could prevent them to meet each other this time. For the past two seasons, something always happened to keep the two Steve Smiths away from meeting each other on field.

Giants rookie safety Chad Jones needs more surgeries

The New York Giants rookie safety Chad Jones has to stay in hospital longer than previously expected as doctors said that he needs several more surgeries to repair the damages on his left leg. The news caused more people to doubt that whether the rookie would be able to play football gain.

At the moment, the only good news is that Jones has been out of intensive care and his father, Al Jones said that everything was going on well. At the moment, the family is not willing to mention the young man’s football career at all, and their only wish is that he could be healthy again.

"Nobody has said whether Chad will play again or not," said Al Jones, "We're not even asking that question right now. Things are going well. They have shown that they are taking good care of Chad while they're doing what they need to do to make sure their investment is protected."

While facing reporters, Al Jones sound optimistic about his son’s sports career, saying that Jones would be able to play baseball if he has to quit football, and even if he will never be able to become a professional athlete again and can only watch games on sideline in his favorite Brett Favre jersey, it’s still fine with the family as long as he is living well.

Vikings TE Shiancoe is looking forward to a new contract

The Minnesota Vikings tight end Visanthe Shiancoe still has two years left on his current contract with the team, but he is already making effort to get a contract extension. Perhaps he just believes that early preparation is better than arguing for the extension shortly before the current contract expires.

Recently always wearing Brett Favre jersey to show his expectation of the starting quarterback’s return, Shiancoe himself is not expecting the team to agree on extending his contract in near future. He and his camp are talking with Vikings but that does not necessarily mean a deal will be in the works soon, and many people believe that Shiancoe is not going to get anything done before the end of 2010 season. What is more likely to happen could be that he will only get a new contract after a new CBA is hammered out.

While the Vikings take Shiancoe’s contract extension as long shot, they are feeling much more pressing on contract negotiation with another player, running back Adrian Peterson, who has only one year left on his current contract.

Gift ideas for Father’s Day

Don’t tell me you are not going to send your father gift for the Father’s Day because your father told you not to do so, you should anyway prepare something for him on that special day. This is the only day for father only in a 365-day year, and it’s the best chance for you to show your love to the special man who loves you more than any other man in the world.

Gift idea No.1 is sending a gift. No matter how cheap or how small the gift is, it’s important for you to give it. Even if you send him a wrong version of Brett Favre jersey, he would be still happy because you still remember that he is a Favre fan.

Gift idea No. 2: Be special. Try best to avoid sending a gift that almost everyone else you know sends to their fathers. You own father is a special man and he would love to know you take him as an especially important man.

Gift idea No. 3: Make sure the gift is really what your father likes. Many people take what they like as good gifts for their fathers, but actually father is a different person from you and he has his own favorite things, so show your considerateness and pick a gift that your father loves.

49ers LB Lawson threatens to leave if not getting new contract

The San Francisco 49ers star linebacker Manny Lawson is now attempting to attract some attention from the team as he wants a new contract as the reason for him to stay with the team. He even threatened that he would leave for another team if the 49ers keep silent on the contract issue.

The outside linebacker showed up for a mandatory minicamp on Thursday after missing the 49ers voluntary workouts. He says he needed a change in scenery and that he is in the best shape of his life. He claimed that he had received a few calls from other teams for possible cooperation. The Minnesota Vikings were among the teams and Lawson said he would like to play with a quarterback wearing No. 4 Brett Favre jersey under a contract matches his capability better.

Lawson was picked by the 49ers in 2006 as a first-round draft pick and he is currently in the last year of his five-year, $7.5 million contract and remains the lowest-paid outside linebacker in the team with a base salary of $630,000. No wonder he was so unhappy and wanted a scenery change.

Interesting scenes in this summer

This hot summer features a most popular event in South Africa, and the world is suddenly filled with all kinds of soccer elements. I’ve seen soccer-shaped ice-creams, team-logo face marks and even soccer version of Brett Favre jerseys. Fans are enthusiastic about their favorite sports event and cheers are heard everywhere whenever there is a game.

The World Cup is not what I like most for this summer. I like seeing people’s responses to their beloved teams’ wins or losses even more. Their expressions are so lively that you can’t help feeling summer is really a good season for a significant sports event as the heat just matches people’s passions. I like watching people in front of a TV or computer instead of the players on field. The scenes of fans enjoying games are much more interesting than the competitions between teams on screen.

Lady fans’ special ways of expressing their passions to a team are even more worth watching. I believe lady fans’ supports are a significant motivation for soccer players improve themselves. Just imagine a pretty girl crazily mover every parts of her sexy body to cheer for your success in scoring a point, every man will suddenly gather all the remaining energy to score more points.

Should the man be charged?

We hate robbers who try to take our money away with threatening weapons and want someone to kill them and save your life and money. But if the man is extremely poor and bothering serious life-threatening diseases, are you still so sure that you are going to send them to death?

The story happened to Edward Callahan was a tragic one. When he was trying to get some money from a bank by pretending that he could evacuate a bomb if he was refused. Thanks to the smart bank manager, police came in time to find that the bomb was fake and the robber was a poor homeless man with Parkinson's disease. The “bomb” was actually a wrap of two Knights of Columbus business cards. To people’s surprise, the man did similar thing for twice previously and had one success with $1,000 being given. It seemed that he chose a wrong target this time and the bank he was trying to robber is only less than a quarter of a block away from the nearest police office.

According to Edward’s lawyer, he was suffering not only Parkinson's disease but also other mental illness and he had been homeless for more than a month. The Brett Favre jersey he was wearing was worn out and smelly, and by so far no one of his family has been reached. He was currently charged with federal bank robbery, but very likely he won’t have to serve imprisonment because of his own woes.

Favre fan won weight-losing competition

If you are at 526-pound fan for Brett Favre, I guess it would be very difficult for you to find a good Brett Favre jersey to fit your body. Actually, the problem is bothering quite a lot of over-weight sports fans, and the story of Michael Vent could teach them something about body building.

Vent has been a fan for Favre since he was pupil and always dreamed of being a star football player like Favre. However, with an inappropriate eating habit, he grew up into a 526-pound fat man, who surely had no chance to become an athlete in any kind of sports. What caused him to determine lose the extra weight was Favre’s performance in 2009. Just as many other people previously believed, Vent did not think Favre could play as excellent as before at age 40. To his surprise, Favre made it and led the Minnesota Vikings to the NFC championship game. Then Vent wondered, if a 40-year-old man could have that kind of success, why could not he himself, at age 25, do a much easier thing like losing weight?

In order to get strong enough motivation, Vent entered for a national weight-losing competition and had the audience supervise his own plan. By the end of the three-month competition, Vent successfully lost more than a half o his body weight to be a 264-pound handsome young man and won the championship of the competition. You can imagine how excited he was for that achievement. Now Vent is planning to buy a favorite Favre jersey and Vikings’ season-ticket with the prize he earned to watch the all the games played by Favre.

Brett Favre will award Golden Eagles with his return to NFL

While most football fans and NFL insiders are waiting for a decision from the Minnesota Vikings pending starting quarterback Brett Favre, some young college football players became the first group of people who heard confirming words from the football star.

The college baseball team for the University of Southern Mississippi, Golden Eagles welcomed their famous alumnus and was proud that their performance could determine the Vikings quarterback’s playing status in 2010 NFL season, as Favre made a bet that he would make an immediate decision to wear back his No.4 Brett Favre jersey for his 20th NFL season once the team manages to get pass for the College World Series.

“If you guys go back to the College World Series this year I will come back and play,” the 40-year-old quarterback answered when his young alumni asked about his decision on his career future. “How about that? You go back and I go back.”

Since Favre did not sound like joking, there is now a great chance for him to return with the Vikings as the Golden Eagles are very promising to earn a berth in the playoffs. The team made tournament appearance last year and is currently one of the top 30 teams in the nation. Favre’s wager will definitely give these young players a stronger motivation to win.
